Twice each month, on Sunday from 12:30-1:00pm, City Carillonneur John Widmann plays the 49-bell carillon mechanically using both hands and feet. Relax on the lawn of Baker Park and let the music soothe your soul.
As a special note -- The August 6 recital marks 25 years as the City Carillonneur for John Widmann! His first recital was the first Sunday of August, 1992. Frederick has truly been blessed by his devotion, talent, and commitment to filling Baker Park with the sounds of the Carillon for so many years.
Most months, you may enjoy these special recitals on the first and third Sundays of each month. There are a few exceptions this year as follows:
In June, Mr. Widmann will be at the Guild of Carillonneaurs in North America congress in Mariemont, OH on the 18th. Recitals will be the first and second Sundays, June 4th and 11th.
In July, Mr. Widmann at the World Carillon Federation Congress in Barcelona, Spain on July 2nd. Recitals will be on the third and fourth Sundays, July 16th and 23rd.
Please also watch for special recitals after the fireworks on July 4 (guest recitalist James Brinson, the Mercersburg Academay carilonneur), after the Kris Kringle Procession, and during the Holiday Tour of Houses Worship.
