In June 1863, Union troops camped Emmitsburg, MD, and hurriedly left once they heard that Confederate troops were approaching Gettysburg. Little did either side know that they would soon be fighting in one of the bloodiest battles in Civl War history.
On the Seton Shrine's Civil War Tour, discover little-known stories of how the Sisters in Emmitsburg helped the Union troops prior to the Battle of Gettysburg, and how they cared for the wounded on both sides after the battle was over.
The tour is available at 11:30am and 1:30pm every Saturday, beginning June 7 through August 29.
The tour takes 45-60 minutes, and is primarily outdoors.
The grounds and walkways on the tour are handicap-accessible.
