DISTRICT Arts, a contemporary art gallery located on Market Street in Downtown Frederick, in conjunction with the Bodice Project, is hosting a breast cancer awareness sculptural exhibit during Breast Cancer Awareness month in October.
The goal of The Bodice Project is to aid in the emotional healing of those women and men facing the challenges of breast cancer and to open the eyes and hearts of others. It is a project that brings together artists, breast cancer survivors, patients and the public in a unique and meaningful way. Artists from the Mid-Atlantic area have created torso sculptures, some of actual women and men who have undergone mastectomies or reconstructive surgery.
The exhibit will run from October 4 through October 27 with an opening reception Friday, October 4. In addition to this very special exhibition, the work of District Arts gallery artists will also be on display.
