Earth Day is actually celebrated on April 22. It inspires awareness and appreciation for the Earth's environment around the world. After 38 years Elk Run appreciates the soil, sun and weather presented to us at this location which has given us the opportunity to produce the unique flavors of traditional grapes grown in Frederick County soils that are made of schist and shale. This vineyard location has presented us with many years of harvest, allowing for the creation of classic award winning flavors. Vineyard tours are recommended with a glass in hand. As we see signs of spring and await bud break, Earth Day makes this afternoon and Sparkling Wine Release a perfect day for toasting to the beginning of the new 2018 Vintage. Our Blanc de Blanc and Blanc Noir Sparkling wines are poured along with many other Elk Fun Fine wines, served with an oyster bar and delectable appetizers, presented in the winemakers home Circa 1756. The afternoon is complete with discoursing with a sword, this is a bi annual event which has taken place for 25 years.
