    Overview

    Step back in time and discover what life was like within the school and community of Sisters that Elizabeth Ann Seton founded in 1809-1810. Elizabeth Ann Seton came to Emmitsburg in 1809, and opened a school for girls in 1810. In the Shrine’s living history experience, you’ll discover what life was like for the Sisters and students, with opportunities for hands on activities depending on the season, and chances to interact with the students and Sisters.
