    Overview

    Step back in time and discover how people lived and worked in the early 1800's in Emmitsburg. Elizabeth Ann Seton came to Emmitsburg in 1809, and opened her school for girls in 1810. In the Shrine’s living history experience, you’ll discover what life was like at the school after it opened.
