    Overview

    Throughout their tour of Rose Hill, visitors will learn expanded information focusing on ways African Americans fought for and gained Emancipation in Frederick County including seeking their own freedom, court cases, manumissions, and fighting in the USCT. Highlighting special stories of those associated with Rose Hill such as Jim Chase, John Thompson, and Bessie Caesar, the tour will cover the fight for emancipation from the beginnings of our county all the way to the post Civil War legacy.
