Three Days / Two Nights

Frederick County is home to many historical residences and serene gardens.

Day One

Museum of Frederick County History
The Museum of Frederick County History is located in an 1820's Federal-style mansion that maintains a unique collection of furnishings, art and memorabilia from Frederick's past. A highlight of the property is the formal sitting garden. Allow 1 hour.

Pistarro's Ristorante 
Enjoy an abundance of options for your group with pizza, pastas and salads.  Large private dining space available. Allow 1.5 hours.

Downtown Frederick
More than 200 specialty shops, art galleries and restaurants can be found in bustling Downtown Frederick. Allow 1-2 hours.

Blue Dreams USA
Surrounded by scenic views, it's a place you can shop, sip tea while unwinding and enjoying the beauty of lavender, roses and tea gardens on the 25-acre farm. Alow 1.5 hours.

Day Two

Rose Hill Manor Park
Rose Hill Manor Park & Museums provide visitors with a look at early American life; transportation history and the agricultural history of Frederick County. Thomas Johnson Maryland's first elected Governor spent his retirement at Rose Hill Manor. The Children's Museum of Rose Hill Manor Park specializes in providing child friendly exhibits and programs and brings history alive for children of all ages. Allow 1.5-2 hours.

Carriage House Inn
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Carriage House Restaurant in Emmitsburg  was built circa 1857, and the building became the Zimmerman and Maxwell Feed and Grain Warehouse in 1877. After the turn of the century, it served as a broom factory and later a bus depot. The restaurant offers quality and gracious service in an elegant country atmosphere. Allow 1.5 hours.

The National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton
Tour the home of the first American born Saint, Elizabeth Ann Seton. Self-guided and docent lead tours of the grounds include a video presentation depicting Elizabeth Seton's life and accomplishments, the original 1770's farmhouse and the colonial style and the beautiful basilica dedicated to her memory. Allow 1.5-2 hours.

Catoctin Breeze Winery Tour and Lunch
Experience hand-crafted wine on at this winery with an intimate setting.  Enjoy a catered lunch or arrange to have a food truck available for a fun and unique twist on lunchtime. Allow 1-2 hours depending if lunch is served.

Day Three

Surreybrooke
A family farm devoted to growing a wide range of plants. Tour herb and rose gardens, learn how to dip candles or make a flower wreath. A variety of hand-on programs are available. Allow 1.5 hours.

Schifferstadt Architectural Museum
Schifferstadt is one of America's finest examples of German colonial architecture. The 1758 stone house is one of the earliest known homes in Frederick and has several unique architectural features such as the five-plate stove, which is the only example its original position. A historically accurate 18th century garden completes the story of everyday farm life. Allow 1.5 hours.

Brewer's Alley Restaurant
Frederick County's original brewpub offers contemporary American regional cuisine and wood-fired pizza oven that complement fresh beer brewed locally in Frederick. Brewer's Alley also partnered with the National Museum of Civil War Medicine for a Civil War Beer series during the sesquicentennial. Private dining space is available for groups.Allow 1.5 hours.

Lilypons Water Gardens
A family farm devoted to growing a wide range of water garden plants and fish. Tour the grounds and see why it's a popular destination for birdwatching and photography. A variety of hand-on programs are available. Allow 1.5 hours.
