Three handsomely restored historic homes in Downtown Frederick available for booking on Airbnb.com. Local Airbnb Superhosts, Bryan and Charlotte Chaney, want you experience downtown Frederick like a local but with the accoutrements of a 5-star hotel. All homes are within a block of Market Street and come complete with all linens, kitchens, air conditioning, cable, internet and one off-street parking space. The homes are dog-friendly and we can provide cribs and high chairs also.
The Barbara Fritchie Guest House, home of the famous Barbara Fritchie, sleeps six, was used as a museum since 1927 until Bryan and Charlotte purchased the home in early 2018 and turned it into an Airbnb so anyone can enjoy it. Stay in the home where Barbara presumably taunted the Confederate soldiers by waving the flag out the window saying: "Shoot if you must, this old grey head, but spare your country's flag!"
The Hauer Guest House, right next door, sleeps 11 and is the childhood home where Barbara Fritchie grew up. The house shares a backyard with the Fritchie house and many guests in town for weddings sometimes book both.
The Downtown 1850 Retreat also sleeps 11 and interestingly is the former home of Nannie Crouse, who in 1862, ALSO presumably taunted the Confederate soldiers in Middletown with her own version of taunting. She wrapped her body up in a Union flag an dared the soldiers to shoot her. The house has a nice shaded backyard as well.
