In 1988, "Egress" became the first contemporary work of public art in Frederick’s historic district, and the first of three murals in William Cochran’s proposed “Angels in the Architecture” series along the Market Street corridor. The trompe l’oeil mural exhibits mind-bending characteristics: a wood duck enters the streetscape from a sky inside the building.
