Whether you prefer an intense run or a leisurely stroll, a city street or a country path, Frederick has a variety of great routes and trails for jogging, running, and walking. With so many scenic views it's not surprising that Frederick is host to many running races throughout the year.

Back to Top of ListParking: Along E. Patrick Street where Carroll Creek Park begins, at approximately 423 E. Patrick St.
Terrain: Slight Hills, Paved
Note: Mount Olivet Cemetery is open from dawn to dusk every day of the year.
Turn by Turn:
- Begin running West, along Carroll Creek Park, and stay on the path (cross S. East St.)
- Left on S. Market St.
- Right into Mount Olivet Cemetery
- At the Francis Scott Key Monument stay to the left and run path along the fence
- At section EE of the cemetery, make your way to the opposite side of the cemetery and begin to circle back to exit of the cemetery where you entered from
- Left on S. Market St.
- Right at Carroll Creek Park
- Stay on Carroll Creek Park path until you return to the starting point

Back to Top of ListParking: Park close to Schifferstadt Architectural Museum, located at 1110 Rosemont Ave., Frederick. There is street parking along W. 2nd Street.
Terrain: Mostly Flat, Paved
Notes: Schifferstadt Architectural Museum is open for tours most Saturdays and Sundays, from the first weekend of April through the first weekend in December. Carillon Recitals at the Joseph Dill Baker Memorial Carillon in Baker Park, featuring City Carillonneur John Widmann on the 49-bell carillon of bronze bells played with fists and feet on a keyboard of batons and pedals. Recitals can be enjoyed on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Sunday of each month, 12:30-1 pm.
Turn by Turn:
- Begin by traveling East on the pedestrian pathway in front of the Schifferstadt Museum
- Cross Fairview Avenue, stay on path
- Cross West College Avenue, stay on path
- Cross College Avenue, stay on path
- Just before North Bentz Street turn around and follow the pathway to return to the start

BRUNSWICK TO POINT OF ROCKS - 13.6 MILES OUT AND BACK
Back to Top of ListParking: Head toward 12 S. Maple Ave., Brunswick, MD 21716. Stay on Maple Avenue passing this address and park in the large train station parking lot.
Terrain: Crush and Run gravel with a top layer of Stone Dust
Notes: In the town of Brunswick you can enjoy some Ice cream at Towpath Creamer, coffee and treats at Beans in the Belfry, and a beer at Smoketown Brewing Station. The Heritage Brunswick Railroad Museum has a HO scale model railroad depicting B&O passenger line from Union Station, DC to Brunswick Freight Classification Yards. Point of Rocks Community Commons Park offers a community park with picnic pavilions just off the trail.
Turn by Turn:

Cross the railroad tracks and walk toward the tree line to get to the towpath. The towpath in Brunswick is Mile Marker 55.

Head East toward Point of Rocks, Mile Marker 48.2.

Turn around and return to Brunswick.

Back to Top of ListParking: Frederick Visitor Center, 151 S. East St. Spaces in the large parking lot at the rear of the building are available on weekends and holidays. The East All Saints Parking Garage is ideal for weekdays. The Visitor Center staff can validate parking tickets for 3 free hours for out-of-county guests.
Terrain: Paved, sidewalks
Notes: Check out the Frederick Visitor Center business listing for open hours. Bathrooms and drinking fountains are located just inside. Along this route you are offered a glimpse of many places to dine and shop in Downtown Frederick. About midway through the route, you will pass by Rose Hill Manor Park & Museum.
Turn by Turn:
- Begin at the Frederick Visitor Center, 151 S. East St.
- Turn Left (North) out the front door on S. East St. and go to Carroll Creek Park
- Turn left at Carroll Creek and go along the path to N. Bentz St.
- Turn Right on N. Bentz St.
- Turn Left on W. 2nd St.
- Turn Right on Fairview Ave.
- When you get to Motter Ave. cross over onto W. 13th St.
- Turn Left on N. Market St.
- Turn Right on Schifferstadt Blvd.
- Continue on Schifferstadt, the road will change names at Monocacy Blvd.
- Continue on Monocacy Blvd.
- Turn Right on E. Patrick St.
- Notice the start of Carroll Creek Park on your left just after Frederick Fairgrounds
- Turn Left into Carroll Creek Park and travel along path
- Turn Left at S. East St.
- Turn Right into Frederick Visitor Center
