"Classics" Sculpture
110 E. Patrick St.
Frederick, MD 21701
Near the entrance to C. Burr Artz Library is “Classics,” a sculpture by George Lundeen. This life-like sculpture of a teenage boy reading a book to a boy and girl sitting on a bench is a magnet to children who stand behind the teenage boy to read the words on the “book” – the first stanza of Francis Scott Key’s “The Star-Spangled Banner,” our country’s national anthem. Funded by the Joseph D. Baker Fund, the sculpture was installed in 2000.
