John Hanson Statue
100 W. Patrick St.
Frederick, MD 21701
Local resident John Hanson was a public official during the era of the American Revolution, and also served as the first President of the United States in Congress Assembled after the Articles of Confederation were ratified. The statue was created by local artist, Toby Mendez, and dedicated on August 4, 2012. The brick colonial home seen on the plaza and facing Patrick Street, which today houses government offices, is a reconstruction of Hanson’s house, where he lived from 1769 until his death in 1783.
