Museum of Frederick County History
The Museum of Frederick County History features several new exhibits for 2026, including "Cultivating Independence: Frederick County in the Revolution," "All Saints Street: An Avenue to the History of Frederick and its African American Community," and "Witnessing Revolution" about diarist Jacob Englebrecht and the legacy of the American Revolution in the 19th century.

A new special exhibit at the Seton Shrine exploring how generations of religious sisters, following Mother Seton’s example, helped shape our nation.

"In Search of Freedom" | Rose Hill Manor Park and Museums (Opening April 2)
"In Search of Freedom" will explore the legacy of the American Revolution at Rose Hill Manor Park and Museums. Through stories of individuals connected to Rose Hill, the exhibits will challenge visitors to consider the meanings of freedom and how various historic events have impacted those freedoms.
"Revolutionary Times in Burkittsville" | South Mountain Heritage Society (Opens April 5)
A special exhibition at the South Mountain Heritage Society exploring connections of southwestern Frederick County to the national story in this 250th anniversary year of the Declaration of Independence.
Emmitsburg: From Way Back When to Now | Daughters of Charity Provincial Archives at Seton Shrine (Opening April 11)
Join the Daughters of Charity Provincial Archives for their special exhibit on the history of Emmitsburg, the town they have called home since Mother Seton's arrival in 1809!
From its humble founding in 1785 through the Civil War, the founding of Mount St. Mary's and St. Joseph Colleges, the rise and fall of the railroad, and its place of distinction among America's firefighters, Emmitsburg has a story far larger than its small size.
