With the help of some online resources and Facebook followers, the Housewives of Frederick County put together three options for parking in Downtown Frederick. If you are coming Downtown during the holiday season, be sure to check special holiday parking hours and rates.
Between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day, all meters and parking garages are FREE every weekend (Saturday 8AM until Monday 6AM).
1. Parking Garages
Downtown Frederick has 5 parking garages. For a map, go to City of Frederick’s website.
All garages are open 24 hours a day, Monday through Sunday.
Garage parking is $1 per hour. The 24-hour maximum weekday rate is $12. Maximum weekday nightly and weekend parking is $5. Parking is free on Sundays from 8AM-2PM, and hourly rate after 2PM.
To pay for garage parking, use cash or credit card. Or you can purchase prepaid parking cards for daily and monthly parking from the City of Frederick Parking Department.
When entering the garage, take a ticket. Keep this ticket with you when you leave your car.
Each garage entrance has a map of Downtown Frederick.
Church Street Garage is located at 17 East Church Street. Places within walking distance: Brewers Alley, Curious Iguana, and Velvet Lounge.

When walking back to the garage, use your ticket to pay at a pay station before walking to your car.
After returning to your car and exiting the garage, just insert your paid ticket into the machine and the gate will lift up for you to leave.
2. Parking Meters
There are $1 and $2 per hour meters, all with 2 hour time limits.
To find out the locations of the $2 meters, go to the City of Frederick website.
Meters are in effect from 9am to 5pm Monday through Saturday. Meters are free on Sundays.
There’s also metered parking in a small lot behind the Church Street parking garage where the White Rabbit Gastropub is located.
To pay for meters you can use coins, the ParkMobile app on your smartphone, or prepaid parking meter cards, purchased from the City of Frederick Parking Department.
3. Free Parking
Park for free at Baker Park, along Carroll Parkway and College Avenue.
If you don’t mind a brisk five to ten-minute walk to Market Street, this is a great option.
Everedy Square & Shab Row, have two free lots with a 2 hour time limit. You must be a patron of the shops & restaurants there. But with places like The Little Pottery Shop and Shab Row Tea Emporium, you won’t have a problem being a patron.
