Frederick County, Maryland is home to six National Park Service units and nearly 100 National Register properties and historic districts, and is part of the Journey Through Hallowed Ground National Heritage Area. During the federal government shutdown, National Parks (including Monocacy National Battlefield and Catoctin Mountain Park) may or may not be open to the public. Some national parks may remain accessible to visitors; however, access may change without notice. Some parks are closed completely.
