Gambrill State Park, located west of Frederick, provides miles of hiking, mountain biking, and horse trails with stunning overlooks of the surrounding area. A 34-campsite, four-camper cabin campground is available seasonally. See beautiful views from three stone overlooks, picnic shelters for rent, and the historic Tearoom, an event facility available for reservations. Some facilities are handicapped accessible.
At least two roads in and around Gambrill State Park will be affected on the day of the event. Gambrill Park Road, from the 8300 block to the 9300 block, which runs through the center of the park, will be blocked off and closed. Hamburg Road, located in the Frederick City Watershed will remain open, but flaggers will be stationed at points where trails that are being utilized for the race cross the road to ensure the safety of the cyclists, as well as drivers and pedestrians.
The road closures will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Detours have been established to help residents navigate around the closures.
Several trails are included in the race route and will be closed to park visitors on the day of the event. The following trails will be closed on race day: Buck Flats, Killer Bee, Huggy Bear, Powerline, Headless Hollow in the Frederick City Watershed, and all trails in Gambrill State Park, particularly sections of the Yellow Poplar and Catoctin trails. Trail closures will be marked with signs before and during the event.
